Where The Crawdads Sing is about a young woman accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend.
If the film adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing follows the original source material, it will chronicle the narrative of Kya Clark, a little girl who was abandoned by her parents and forced to raise herself in the seclusion of North Carolina’s marshes until she reached maturity. And, despite momentarily re-entering society in a nearby village, Kya finds herself on the run once more when a former boyfriend attacks her and subsequently dies, with the “Marsh Girl” as the lead suspect in the tense murder investigation.
While it appears that the odds are stacked against Kya, secrets and revelations from her background are revealed, further complicating her situation in this expansive murder mystery set in the marshy wetlands.
